Iconic G Plan Astro solid teak and glass coffee table
This is a lovely table which has become a design classic - a gorgeous colour with smooth lines, fantastic build quality and beautiful solid teak. It manages to look both retro and modern at the same time, and fits perfectly into both contemporary and vintage interiors.
This table was first launched by British manufacturer G Plan in 1965 as occasional table model 8040. It was designed by Victor Wilkins and is influenced by the popular Danish style and the atomic designs of the era. Unlike other tables built by G Plan and similar manufacturers, the Astro is made of solid teak, rather than veneer on chipboard or other wood. The frame holds a circular disk of glass.
This table is in very good condition, having been gently restored. It has been stripped back to bare wood, oiled and finished with protective wax to bring out the beautiful grain and warm colour. The wood has only minor marks, and the original glass has very minor scratches. The original G Plan sticker is retained on the underside. Please examine the photographs and feel free to ask us any questions, or request more pictures.
We are happy to provide a quote for replacement safety glass if required - please get in touch!
